What happened, in summary
Mawar sought medical help after persistent fatigue, heartburn and pain around the stomach or breastbone. The evaluation led to a diagnosis of Stage II stomach cancer.
Following the doctor's recommendation, Mawar underwent a partial gastrectomy and also received chemotherapy. Later, Mawar chose to discontinue further treatment because caring for 2 children felt like the immediate priority. Treatment brought fatigue and loss of appetite, but Mawar did not make major lifestyle changes to manage those effects.
Cancer did change family relationships and priorities. Mawar visited parents more often and spent more time with the children, although family trips stopped after the diagnosis. The main goal became living peacefully, making good memories together and having more time for religious classes. Mawar also hoped to watch future grandchildren grow up. A brother-in-law had died from cancer at a relatively young age, and the possibility that the gastric cancer could worsen or require further treatment remained a major concern. Over time, the initial surprise and confusion became more neutral feelings, with attention centered on family and everyday life.
