A 61-year-old man sought care after one month of a sensation of obstruction when swallowing. He was diagnosed with synchronous gastric and esophageal cancers and underwent combined surgery in May 2017 using the same operative approach described for the other patients in the series.
The gastric cancer was classified as Stage I. The accompanying esophageal cancer was treated during the same combined operation as a separate primary cancer.
He received no postoperative adjuvant therapy. At 6 months after surgery, he was living normally and had no evidence of recurrence.
