What happened, in summary
Nelly, from Colombia, noticed movable breast lumps and pain before being diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She initially felt optimistic and courageous, but deciding on treatment also brought anger, anxiety, fear, and discouragement.
Her doctors recommended mastectomy and hormone therapy, and she chose that plan. Nelly later said she had completed active treatment, was in remission, and continued hormone therapy. She did not describe major treatment side effects.
After cancer, she made healthy eating a daily goal and spent more time with her children and wider family. She hoped to travel with her children and eventually own a home with them. Faith remained important to her, and she encouraged other patients to believe in God and hold on to hope.
