What happened, in summary

Less than a year after diagnosis, Catriona described herself as a breast cancer survivor who had recovered. She remained focused on her own wellbeing and the health of her family. Her hopes included living a long life and being present to watch her grandchildren grow up.

The unknown had been her greatest fear because cancer treatment was an entirely new experience. Positive thinking helped her move through that uncertainty, and over time she felt more optimistic. She encouraged other patients to trust the treatment process, make time for themselves and stay connected with the people they love.
