Stage 0 Breast Cancer: Linda's Survivor Story

What happened, in summary

Linda, originally from Malaysia, found a lump above her right breast while showering in 2007. Further evaluation showed stage 0 breast cancer. She had no other symptoms. The diagnosis left her worried, nervous, and overwhelmed. Following her doctor’s recommendation, Linda underwent a lumpectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. She completed treatment and later described the cancer as being in remission. Fatigue, hair loss, and lymphedema affected her during treatment, although she did not use a specific management strategy. After diagnosis, Linda focused on eating a healthier diet every day. Cancer also changed her family relationships: she spent more time with her two children and took more family trips. She wanted to make the most of their time together and hoped to share her experience with friends. Her greatest concern was that the cancer might return, and she relied on prayer to cope with that fear. Many years after diagnosis, Linda said she no longer felt fearful and instead felt optimistic, hopeful, and thankful.
