This woman had her first documented breast-cancer diagnosis in March 2018, when she underwent a modified radical mastectomy of the right breast. Pathology showed ductal carcinoma in situ, and none of 24 sampled axillary lymph nodes contained cancer. The tumor was estrogen-receptor positive and progesterone-receptor positive, with HER2 reported as 1+.
After surgery, she received radiotherapy and then 1 year of trastuzumab, ending in March 2019. She also began anastrozole in 2019 and stopped it in November 2020.
Later in 2020, she developed a separate invasive cancer in the left breast. That later cancer followed a different course and ultimately became metastatic, so its treatment and outcome are kept in a separate cancer-level record rather than being attributed to the earlier right-sided ductal carcinoma in situ.
