What happened, in summary
A daughter described her mother's breast cancer being found after a company health check in April 2009 recommended further testing. A local doctor saw a white shadow in the left breast and first considered calcification, but sent her to a larger hospital to be safe. More detailed testing showed the shadow was a tumor. Because it was found early, her mother had breast-conserving surgery to remove the tumor from the left breast. After surgery, she completed radiation therapy and hormone therapy without major side effects. She recovered quickly enough to return to work fairly soon after leaving the hospital and continued working with energy. Ten years later, there had been no recurrence. The daughter was especially grateful that she had been able to accompany her mother to the appointment where the diagnosis was explained.
