What happened, in summary
During a health check, Mina was initially evaluated for possible myeloma, and her breast examination was postponed. After myeloma was ruled out, a later visit led to an immediate biopsy that confirmed breast cancer. Feeling that the first doctor had not provided enough information, she and her family sought a more experienced opinion.
Mina chose a plan that included lumpectomy, lymphadenectomy, radiation therapy, and hormone therapy. She completed the local treatment and continued hormone therapy. Fatigue, hair loss, and weight changes affected her, and she relied on exercise and improved nutrition to manage them. Follow-up visits remained stressful.
She became more active and changed her diet after diagnosis, although cancer reduced some of the time she spent with her parents and children. Fear of recurrence remained her main concern. Mina hoped to travel overseas with her family, spend more time in nature, and visit Europe, while encouraging other patients to ask questions, express their concerns, and focus on caring for themselves.
